Sinchon or Sinchon-dong is a neighbourhood and a judicial (as opposed to administrative)dong (Hangul: 법정동; Hanja: 法定洞; RR: beopjeongdong) in Seodaemun-gu in Seoul,South Korea. Sinchon is a very busy area of the city and holds several department stores, cinemas and shopping areas that cater mainly to a young crowd. Also in the vicinity are several universities such as Yonsei University, Ewha Woman's University, Hongik University and Sogang University. Sinchon is also one of the major entertainment districts with hundreds of bars, karaoke rooms, PC-rooms and restaurants lining up the streets covered in neon lights at night. One of Seoul's largest hospitals, Severance Hospital, is linked with Yonsei University in Sinchon.
